31 December 07 - 12:24SVN MythTV RPMs for SuSE 10.3

Its been a while since I have posted updated source RPMs for MythTV. There have been a huge amount of changes from the 0.20.2 release and the current SVN version of MythTV. These changes required me to change the SPEC files. The biggest change, is that now I (you) need to compile MythTV and MythPlugins separately, as keeping the installation of MythTV while compiling MythPlungins was a pain. I have also had trouble tracking down all required packages, so be patient if your build does not work out of the box and send me a message with the error if it does not work as a comment to this post.

Since the 14th of January 2008 the MythTV SVN (rev 15450) contains a fully working implementation of recording several concurrent shows from one transport stream.

The following source RPMs have been successfully tested with the SVN version 15450.

• mythtv-0.21-0.15450.svn.src.rpm
• mythplugins-0.21-0.15450.svn.src.rpm

To build your own current SVN release you need to download these files and compile them with rpmbuild. The following commands should be enough:

rpmbuild --rebuild mythtv-0.21-0.15450.svn.src.rpm

Then install the new files and run:

rpmbuild --rebuild mythplugins-0.21-0.15450.svn.src.rpm

Don't forget to uninstall libmyth-devel if you intend to rerun the base MythTV packages, as these will break the build.

am Freitag den 20.09.2007 verstarb Willi Fricke, mein Vater, einige Tage nach einer erfolgreichen Operation eines Darmkrebses unerwartet an einer Lungenentzündung. Er hatte 24 Jahre an Parkinson gelitten und in den letzten Jahren stark abgebaut. Im engen Freundeskreis wurde am vergangenen Samstag eine Trauerfeier und am Sonntag ein Gottesdienst in Kolumbien gehalten.

Eine Andenkenfeier in seinem Geburtsort Grasleben wird von uns im kommendem Mai 2008 zu seinem Geburtstag organisiert, so dass sich Familie und Bekannte von ihm verabschieden können. Folgend eine Sammlung von Beiträgen, unter anderen die Predigt des Trauergottesdienstes.

En la noche de jueves a viernes 20/21 de septiembre de 2007 falleció Willi Fricke, mi padre, unos días luego de una exitosa cirugía de un tumor en el intestino, inesperadamente por una bronconeumonía.

Durante 24 años padeció del mal de Parkinson y en los últimos años sufrió un notable deterioro.

Junto con los más allegados se celebró en Colombia una misa el domingo, después de un velorio el sábado.
Se organizará un acto conmemorativo en su pueblo natal de Grasleben el próximo Mayo de 2008 en el día de su cumpleaños, con lo que la familia y los conocidos podrán despedirse de él.

Vor einigen Wochen hatte die Sony DCR-HC39E Handycam, die wir vor etwas über einem Jahr gekauft hatten, einen Defekt. Das LCD ging nicht mehr an und man konnte nichts mehr aufnehmen. Ich hatte, da die Kamera im Internet gekauft worden war, gleich die Befürchtung, dass ich damit knapp 500 Euro in den Sand gesetzt hatte, was sich aber nicht als solches herausstellte. (more)

One nice thing about openSUSE is that the Factory branch of the distribution (the development one) is available on an up to date basis. As the "stable" distribution ages I like to update a few packages that do not need a full new install to make your life with Linux even nicer. (more)

I run MythTV on opensuse. As I do like to check out how the new development with MythTV is going ahead I have scripted together a SPEC file from other suse RPMs that downloads the latest SVN version and compiles it into my custom RPMs. Today I finally got it to work with the 12490 revision.
