Home automation

KNX, LogicMachine, networked audio and the scripts that connect a home full of stubborn devices.

My home-automation projects live where KNX, LogicMachine, Linux and ordinary consumer hardware meet. The interesting part is rarely switching a lamp. It is making devices from different generations cooperate reliably.

These notes include Lua libraries, telnet and serial control, multi-room audio, projectors, AV receivers and interface work. Most of the code was written to solve an actual problem in the apartment, not to demonstrate an abstract platform.

Some hardware and services have aged, but the patterns remain useful: keep protocols visible, isolate device-specific commands and prefer local control that continues working when a vendor cloud disappears.
